Storyboard Creation

Boards are drawn from the script with each frame representing a distinct shot rather than a distinct moment, so the count reflects what will actually be filmed. Every frame is annotated with shot size, camera angle, lens intent, and any camera or subject movement indicated by arrows. Frames are drawn in the delivery aspect ratio, with safe areas marked where the piece will be cropped for vertical or square placements, because deciding that at the edit stage produces compositions with the subject cut in half. Continuity is checked across frames for screen direction and eyeline so shots will cut together. Dialogue, voiceover and key sound cues are written under the relevant frames, and estimated durations are noted so the board can be timed against the target length before anyone is booked. Boards are supplied as a numbered sequence keyed to the shot list, so the schedule and the board reference the same identifiers. An animatic is produced where timing needs to be judged rather than assumed.
